Guangzhou Trip - Day 6: 寻幽探秘

Discovered another side of my homeland today - 潮州. My first time going there. Practically it's the visiting of relatives today again. These photos were taken on the way there, to 潮安, my father's homeland. Went for some walk around 潮州, to the famous bridge known as 湘子桥. It's one of the 4 major bridges in China!

Ate at 东北饺子 for lunch. What we ate?

Top Row (left to right): 鱼香茄子, 白菜/韭菜饺子, 牙签羊肉
Bottom Row (left to right): 葱油饼,粉丝, 苦瓜排骨汤

Photos with my nephews and my 小姐夫 at the 湘子桥. I'm really gonna miss them when I go back to Singapore. No wonder there's a saying that goes, 好景不长在. It's sort of windy here, therefore the temperature is colder than other places. However, it did not beat our temptation to leave our wonderful memories here! The scenery here is really pretty. A pity not to take pictures here, you'll definitely regret it! Notice Yan Qiong doing his "model show" =p

Sent Ye Qin to his school after that. They have lessons on Sundays here, unlike Singapore. He skipped lessons today, ahh, guess a typical doing for a teenager? =p His school is just about the size of a secondary school in Singapore despite it bring a tertiary institution. With the hostel even! The second picture you see the hostel with LOTS of uniforms hanging around. From what he told me, only the first floor are the male hostels, the remaining are for females. Why? The ratio of females to males is 3:1! How lucky they are. :p Fortunately, I did not capture any "not to be captured" stuff.

It's gonna be a long time before I'll get to see him again. Hope I get to come back every year.

Road back to 潮阳. We were travelling on the 潮汾高路 as the whole journey was almost an hour plus. Speed limit on this highway was 100km/h. The GPS would warn you when you are speeding or reaching a speed camera. Driving in China is easy when you have a GPS system. It'll say something like, "三百米后右转, 进入335省路." Every 100m, it'll remind you (less than 1km from the turn, if more than 1km it'll remind every 1km). If you do not need to turn, it'll say something like, "在听到下一则 语言信息之前, 请沿着现有道路向前进." However, you have to know when to "siam" all those cars and motorcycles. In Guangzhou, you are not allowed to horn. However in 潮阳, almost everyone is horning on the road as it's really too messy. Got stuck in a conjestion in 潮州 today, you really have to navigate your own way out of the maze!

Dinner at home! My favourite 贝壳类, cockles and oysters! The oysters are huge, but not as huge as those just fresh from the ocean. Other ingredients include squid, beef balls, beef, golden mushrooms and veggies.

Another photo with them. Hope it won't be another 10 years before I get to take this picture again! Anyway, I'll be going back to Guangzhou tomorrow. Might be going to karaoke tomorrow and to the Science Park on the 10th. Schedule for 11th would just be going to the airport to take the plane back home and going for dinner.
